Who knows what Kash and Bongo have done to those left in the FBI who were the professionals. As for INS, I would like to know why "Soliman, an Egyptian national, was apparently never even sought by immigration officials", that "his authorization to remain here had expired in March", and that "there’s no evidence the Trump administration took any action to remove him". This for me is the lingering big (yes, ironic) deal. Is anyone else mentioning this? I've kinda been looking.
Reports indicate that he had never caused any trouble previously and so there would be no reason to be targeted by ICE or the FBI. Also, he had applied for asylum, which should have put him in a separate category meaning he should not be referred to as “illegal”, although his asylum status has not been clarified, so we don’t really know, but neither does the media.
According to the Trump administration, his authorization to be here legally expired in March. If they had granted him asylum or decided to let him stay while they decided, they haven't said. I hope it's clear I'm not arguing they SHOULD have been going after people at all...just that their targeting included people who were here legally but committed thoughtcrime...
All good points to make from both both of you. One can rush to judgement w/o clear understanding of status and history (due process matters!). I've read that a few hours ago, the whole family was detained and that the father waited until his daughter graduated from HS to carry out the attack...lives will change.
Is ‘keep everyone else mad at each other and confused while we pull the rug out from under all of them’ in the authoritarian playbook anywhere? Thank you Jonathan for following up on this stuff. You and Rachel Maddow have a talent for it.
I can no longer find the first news report that included this, but it’s terribly important: when Solimon was taken in, he was quoted as having stated clearly that he was not targeting Jews and had no problem with Judaism, only with Zionist support for the genocide and destruction of Palestine. This statement has been ignored or suppressed; if true, it would negate the antisemitism charges (although certainly not the violent crimes). If anyone has a record of that quote, I hope they will post it here and everywhere.
Y'know, there was reporting I saw that said a WITNESS described his remarks as antisemitic. But I didn't see any direct quotes, so it's possible the witness heard the stuff that's already been widely reported...and just characterized it as antisemitic. Hopefully we'll find out!
I know people in Boulder who have encountered this weekly march. It’s open to the public, so the organizers cannot be blamed for the actions or words of any individuals, but some of these marchers have verbally harassed and abused anti-genocide, ceasefire, or pro-Palestine demonstrators. I’m cautious about accepting any “witness” reports as unbiased truth, although the MSM is running with the usual narrative.
I'm sorry, but I think you are arguing in the wrong direction. The group's intentions were clearly to remember the hostages, but the flag they carried and the national anthem they often sang were of the State of Israel. They have every right to do so, but their messaging was mixed and they really must grapple with that problem. How does anyone march with that flag without considering the thousands of innocents dying, right now and for many months, at the hands of its military? Our Jewish community is obligated to reflect honestly on morality.
The attacker seemed to know the group he attacked (which is really the least you can do before you firebomb someone). Clearly he doesn’t have an ethical position against a diverse group trying to have hostages released.
We can talk about whether he said anti-Semitic or anti-Zionist things, or whether he really just hates the idea of releasing hostages. But really, he just hates Jews.
No one has firebombed a group of Russians, despite what happens in ukraine. No one firebombs arabs despite what happens in sudan. No one firebombs alawites despite what happens in Syria.
It’s just the Jews, or people perceived to be Jewish.
So, are we talking false flag yet, or no? The resemblance between that incident and previous ones devised by the FBI to advance an "anti-terrorist" agenda are striking if you have a decent long-term memory.
Maybe I've spent more time studying the process. A good starting point is when an incident has the pedigree you've just described, where facts are ignored in favor of the desired propaganda. The "perpetrators" are often mentally ill or mentally challenged and easily persuaded by COINTELPRO operators. And we now live in a culture where the mass of people have been educated to be easily persuaded.

Yes, you’re being very clear and very right-on. Thank you.
You, too. Thanks!

Has the FBI ever told the truth about anything? Accidentally or otherwise.

Democrats screaming they hate fascists are always the same ones practicing fascism, and instead of denouncing political violence, Democrats are encouraging it. https://torrancestephensphd.substack.com/p/the-american-political-party-of-violence

Haven't seen any indication of it.
