I especially like to listen to you reading because you laugh at your own jokes and stumbles. Your robots are ok for robots but your own reading has my vote! You are my number one place to go to every morning as I compulsively read to find out if the PiNO has spontaneously combusted.

I hope you point that sort of cause and effect out in your low key way every time it happens. So many stories and too few ripples it can feel like most days.

Thanks, Lisa. I honestly figured it'd only be of interest to those of you keeping the lights on here at Chez Newsfucking. You think there's broader interest?

Hmm you may be right. I guess I like how you discuss your philosophy about long term investment in independent journalism. Even beyond it being about specifically supporting TFN or any specific journalism source, it resonates with how it’s good to invest the time in paying attention and following developing stories and understanding deeper context over time. I want to tell people about this who may not have thought about it before, or in a while....

A thought from this: when you cover a rep up to nasties, share it with the leaders of their local/regional opposition groups (Hands Off, 50501, etc.). They won’t have to find you, and they can use it to organize a response. And they just might follow and possibly even pay for a subscription. 😉

That's a good thought and something I've thought about before... I'm not sure I have the bandwidth or the skill but it's a really good idea and probably once I should think about more during the Substack Summer Slowdown...!

Jonathan, I remember your story and subsequently reading her name affiliated with the Republican prayer group. When people say “Vote Blue”, I say NO, candidates must be vetted and use her as an example of a so-called Dem with a questionable voting record & a Republican prayer group. I find it impossible to believe she couldn’t find Dems for her group.

I live in WA state - and I'm a paid subscriber of this Substack . Although, I only became one recently and I don't live in MGP's district.

Washington is a blue state, but that is because most of the population lives in King County, which includes Seattle. Much of the southern and eastern portions of the state are red, some are very red. MGP might have a D next to her name, but her district went for Trump in 2024.

Thank you so much for this. It has made a difference. Unfortunately, the right has been using it to create ads all over local networks and youtube smearing her further.

I remember watching a Netflix documentary about this group, called The Family. Not sure if it’s still available, because it was 5 or 6 years ago, but it was chilling.
