lol, like they have the emotional bandwidth to abandon special pleading for The One True Righteous Team — oh what? Vance is Catholic and almost everyone else in the maladministration isn't? Meh, hem, haw, sweep under rug ...
That's a cute little diversion for some flavor of Baptist or other ... They 'date' the start of Christianity from when Main Character was supposedly baptized by John the not-yet-headless Baptist
It's perhaps comforting to attribute the "true path" to anyone who touted/touts scripture to prosocial &or progressive ends, but there's enough material in 'official' (according to ... ???) scripture to 'justify' just about any damn thing.
Depends whose folklore you lean towards. There are zero secular records of who or what he was.
In no particular order:
"Matthew" cherry-picked & stretched scripture in an effort to convert as many Torah-observant folks as possible. "Mark" pushed the Pauline innovation that dudes didn't have to get circumcised to sign up. Luke pretended to be a 'historian' about the whole thing. (Of course nobody preserved his notes on how to separate wishful thinking & just-so stories from confirmed reportage.) "John" ... used a brilliant combination of anonymity & celebrity to spin all [contemporary] kinds of antisemitism-mongering.
The tales that had fallen out of favor by the time an 'official' New Testament was compiled ... get a lot scarier and sillier. Revelations almost didn't make it!
Then the GOP should also be cool with Islam call to prayer 5 times a day in the rotunda.

White Jesus got me thinking. Not a religious scholar mind you, but wasn't Jesus of Nazareth a Jew for his entire corporeal life?
Did Jesus ever become a Christian?
He would have had to follow himself. Self-worship by the leader in the White House right now exposes the problems associated with that sort of thing.
So are the travails of the self-anointed. On we trudge or abide, whatever.

Plus, the brand of Christianity these guys are advocating isn’t Christian, as this article so beautifully describes it. https://open.substack.com/pub/johnpavlovitz/p/dear-jesus-youre-fired-from-maga?r=elmqn&utm_medium=ios

I'm from Indiana and I detest Mike Braun. I truly hope he gets voted out of office. But our state is ruby red.
I just love the blasphemous depiction of Jesus in that stupid red hat.
And no, Jesus did not enter the world as a northern European. Fuck you megan kelly.
Isn't Jesus Christ, by definition, a Christian? 🤷♀️
And don't even get me started on Justin or Marcion ...
