Well, I feel foolish... I didn't even realize you HAD a second newsletter until just now. My bad.

But, WOW, what an outstanding report on Springfield. I'm even more appalled for them than before...

Thx, Jon.

Don’t feel foolish! It’s my bad for not letting folks know, plus, I haven’t really been using it til now. And thanks for the kind words about the Springfield report, and your unflagging support!

Crazy. I had no idea, had heard nothing about this complicated part of the story. Thanks. Honestly, it does answer the very reasonable question: how are there suddenly over ten thousand Haitians in a random Midwest city?

THANK YOU! Wild how such bizarro aberrations go totally unquestioned in most coverage, right?

And yeah, it’s a fascinating aspect of the story for me, for sure. The mayor keeps telling people it’s an investigation…sure SOUNDS like he wants to be able to point fingers somewhere. But it’ll be (a) local employer(s)! Interesting spot for a mayor to choose for himself…!

I don’t get all this “crossing the border” talk.

Haiti is one half of the island of Hispaniola. None of these folks snuck into the country. Haitians are here legally and were recruited for jobs that weren’t being filled locally.

Meanwhile, of course they were exploited in the course of their arrival. Immigrant groups always are. Why do you think “Chinatowns” came about?

America is what it is.

Republicans have to stop being afraid of their whack job base. Like calling for “investigations” to make excuses for an influx of workers as if there’s some mystery as to why they were recruited.
